they re really con artists. they re trying to convince you know they don t believe it themselves, okay. they know he s a high-quality person. they don t believe it. it s just resist and obstruct. and now a new charge comes up, and she said, well, it might not be him and there were gaps and she said she was totally inebriated. she was all messed up. she doesn t know it was him, but it might have been him. oh, gee, let s not make him a supreme court judge because of that. this is a con game being played by the democrats. a con game. a number of prominent republicans appear to have already made up their minds as well. i look forward to an up or down vote on this nomination here on the senate floor. do you think you have the votes in the committee to actually get him confirmed? it depends on the outcome of the hearing, but yes, i think we do. so we need to move on and get this vote done. is there any circumstance under which the white house or president trump would pull judge
expected would happen, that he would get a very stiff sentence, that he would go to prison, that he would not walk out of here on house arrest as his lawyers had wanted to. earlier today he was declared a violent sexual predator, which is another designation that means for the rest of his life, he has to report to police his movements, any time he leaves town or tries to go anywhere. again, three to ten years at a maximum security prison. we believe he s doing to serve at a prison called phoenix, which is not far from here in collegeville, pennsylvania. it s a 4,000-bed facility that was just opened recently in the state of pennsylvania. but again, the judge in this case, we haven t heard what he said yet. we haven t heard how he explained his sentence. earlier, we did hear, for example, from the victim in this case, the main victim, andrea constand, the woman who brought these charges. she issued an impact statement that we just got a little while ago. let me read a bit of it that wil
it s in the aggravated range because there were six other victims who testified to having been assaulted by him. what do you think about the appeal? that s one of the issues the cosby team has raised. right. there are significant issues for appeal, but they ve been very thoroughly vetted during this entire trial. two trials, and i think the likelihood of success is really quite modest. he now goes to the department corrections facility in phoenix, i believe. that s what the judge statement indicated. sometimes they go to the county jail overnight and then go to the state correctional institute. he ll be in the state system relatively quickly. he ll have no time to go home and he s just going to be gone? he will be leaving this courthouse in a sheriff s van. they cleared the courtroom so the people didn t see him being taken away, but he will leave in a sheriff s van. i guess there s some question now of whether we ll see him. there s a way to get out of the
a sexually violent predator. again that, gives you a sense of how much is riding on this. of course, this is the first big conviction of the #metoo era. the judge had to be mindful of that. of course, he s supposed to focus on the facts of the case, but obviously he s aware of the times we live in and the significance of this case. but again, three to ten years. we expect cosby to be placed in handcuffs and taken to prison shortly. that was exactly my question. will he be immediately remanded or be given any leeway, any time to go home and gather himself? reporter: because it is state prison, it is my understanding that he will be taken directly to a county jail and processed and then to a state prison. right now technically he is free under house arrest under $1 million bond. that will be revoked. the prosecutors have been trying to get this revoked for a long time. because it s a sentence longer than two years and because he s going to a state prison, we think this is going to ha
the sheriffs are clearing the court, as i said. we will not see cosby get handcuffed. you can see andrea constand hugging janice dickinson, another woman who said she was a victim of bill cosby. we re going to see if andrea constand decides to talk to reporters about this moment. she s now leaving, it looks like, the courthouse. the judge told bill cosby and his defense lawyers that this is a serious crime, a sexual crime. he says he could quite be a danger to the community. the judge will revisit if a post-sentence motion is filed. we re going to find out if that means bill cosby will be caugwag out of this courtroom and we ll get a glance at him before he moves on to jail. i believe revoking bail means he s going to jail, right, danny? that s right. revoking bail means he s going to go directly to jail. he won t pass go. he will shed all his belongings.
