mccain, if you look at his campaign, his last campaign, was all about repeal and replace, repeal and replace. so, he decided to do something different and that s fine. and i say, we still have a chance. leland: hard to understand how he wasn t on the list of a whip count when he was the one who killed the last go round for repeal and replace. put that aside for a second. the president teams optimistic, and short on fox and friends optimistic. give your read of the tea leaves. is this bill dead and buried or on terminal life support and it can be brought back? it s definitely on life support, rand paul a no. susan collins, another moderate leaning no. and when you look at the math where the money goes on the bill, it s not good. lisa murkowski is another on the fence and she will get a 38% cut in funds under the graham-cassidy g.o.p. replace
cassidy, who we just showed there, spearheading the bill, lied to him about protections for pre-existing conditions. cassidy for his part insists that the bill requires states to provide affordable care for preexisting conditions but at least one republican senator remains unconvinced. susan collins. susan collins of maine saying today in portland she s leaning against the bill. nbc s kasie hunt live in washington for us. she s tracking the movements of this bill. so, where are we now? reporter: well, craig, we re still in a state of uncertainty with republicans potentially having the votes to get this through, but with all the focus still on these key senators who had voted no on the last go round. now, there are some questions about whether or not maine would actually be better off under graham/cassidy than they are now, so perhaps that s putting pressure on collins. but it s been the widespread assumption that she will ultimately oppose this bill.
amazing to see the distinction between the trump and clinton campaign. at this stage in the campaign two things are important. generating enthusiasm from the base. big rallies. big surrogates like president obama and, who can do that, and then you also have a ground game. the mechanics. get your voters out to the polls. where is trump on the ground game? questions whether the rnc can match up with the dnc on that. we ll see, and clearly not the surrogates to generate enthusiasm democrats can. perfect surrogates, right, in the obamas. talk about the race piece, gender piece. saw the piece by michelle obama in new hampshire last go-round in arizona, 7,000 people showed up. they are deeply offended by trump-ism, right, in donald trump and what he represents. antithetical to everything the obamas have come to represent and their idea of what america should be. a place inclusive, that s diverse. so they are so, i think, pitch perfect in terms of guesting that obama coalition together and
across portions of the u.k., working toward another, seeing massive floods taking place across the region, as well. globally speaking, this is something that typically has somewhere on the order of 30 to $45 billion of damage, at least occurred the last go round in 1997 into 1998 for the major el nino year. this is something we re watching carefully in the coming couple of month. yeah. the bigger picture certainly is that there s crazy weather still to come. thanks. back to the main story. a major blow to isis. iraqi forces say they have won back control of ramadi. the capture of the strategic city has reinvigorated morale for iraqi forces. we have more on what this means for the overall fight against isis. reporter: claiming an epic victory, the iraqi army announced the liberation of ramadi, 60 miles west of baghdad. drone surveillance footage shows the moment iraqi troops raised the national flag over the government complex.
go-round but chris christie is making a play for new hampshire. this is where he has his eggs in one basket, you could say. iowa is not a place where he will necessarily succeed when you look at the polling there but new hampshire could be, even though he is still right around seventh in the standings here. you talk about how he capitalizes on this. it s by doing events like he s doing today. chris christie just appeared here with her. the union leader took jabs at folks like senator rubio and senator cruz saying it wasn t time in washington for another fast-talking young senator, sort of pointing out president obama and what he s done. but christie today was more explicit about that, taking pointed jabs at ted cruz, for example, when it came to national security, at rand paul also. christie said today it was day 49 for him here in new hampshire as he hopes to try to pick up some movement here. when you have the union leader
