Western Kentucky University has announced the 2021 finalists of the WKU ColÂlege of Education and Behavioral Sciencesâ DisÂtinÂguished Educator Awards, which includes a few LaRue County Schools educators.
âWhile itâs hard to believe weâre rounding out a year of non-traditional instruction, our teachers have felt every shift and change that came with our new ânormalâ,â said Corinne Murphy, dean of WKUâs College of Education and Behavioral Sciences, in a news release. âOur teachers adapted and persevered through every roadblock and moment of uncertainty, showing that education, while considered very traditional in nature, is just as nimble and innovative as the other professional fields that made sharp pivots during the 2020 year.â
LaRue County Middle School students participated virtually last week in the annual Kentucky Youth Assembly.
The program acts as a two-day mock government learning activity for state government. Students learn about the three branches of government by participating in the legislature, the judicial branch and the executive branch. Schools are separated into delegations and are awarded based on individual performance.
LaRue County Middle School was awarded the outstanding delegation, which is awarded to a premiere delegation with the highest quality of participation, level of preparedness and behavior exemplifying the Yâs four core values.
Students were invited to the middle school to participate online in the schoolâs cafeteria while practicing appropriate health protocols.
