County EDA wants to aid businesses By Chuck Hunt - Editor | May 2, 2021 The Faribault County Economic Development Authority (EDA) spent much of their meeting on Tuesday, April 20, discussing two new ideas of ways to help businesses in the county. One idea was to host a business marketing event, while the other was to host a countywide job fair. Both ideas are strictly in the early planning stages, County EDA specialist Annie Nichols noted. The marketing event for businesses would focus on use of social media to promote local businesses. “At the beginning of COVID many businesses, especially restaurants, were posting daily,” Nichols said. “But since then it has slowed significantly.”

High Desert Food, Farm Alliance sets ‘food and farm trail’ development workshops BEND, Ore. (KTVZ) There’s a new tourism experience coming to Central Oregon! The High Desert Food and Farm Alliance is partnering with Travel Oregon and community leaders throughout the region to form a new food and farm trail, to help locals and visitors alike find and enjoy the best local food and agritourism experiences the region has to offer. The food and farm trail will highlight farms offering agritourism opportunities and food businesses featuring locally-grown and raised ingredients. HDFFA is now seeking farmers, ranchers, food producers, community leaders, public agencies, industry associations, tourism entrepreneurs, lodging property owners, craft beverage producers, restaurateurs and anyone with an interest in strengthening the local culinary & agritourism economy to participate in the two-part Development Workshop series on May 13th and 17th. High Desert Food & Farm Alliance seeks Resiliency Award nominations BEND, Ore. (KTVZ) The High Desert Food and Farm Alliance opened up its nomination period for the Farm and Ranch Resiliency Award on Thursday, April 15th. In its inaugural year, the Farm and Ranch Resiliency Award aims to highlight agricultural producers for taking innovative approaches to on-farm sustainability while educating the broader community on the local food system. After a difficult year for farmers and ranchers with wildfires, hailstorms, and supply chain disruptions, HDFFA is excited to celebrate its partners through this new initiative. Central Oregon community members are asked to nominate up to three farm or ranch partners in the region that they believe exemplify agricultural resiliency, or the ability to absorb and recover from shocks and stresses to their agricultural production and livelihoods.
