Opportunity for the city and im going to hear tonight a little bit about what is going on at the shipyards and over the last 6 months our superintendent and deputies chief facility officer has been in conversation with San Francisco State University about an initiative partnering for a presence at the shipyards we wanted to present some of the early thinking to the board this is more follow but have next steps how to engage the board more deeply so basically, were xrrg exploring the potential for shipyard and on the next page in the handout about the existing work going on at the shipyard and this is really an opportunity to have a revitalized waterfront neighborhood with the whole vision for the residential and entertainment a research and development conveying campus a business gutter situating on the waterfront and as we think about much the innovation work going on there some of that will be moving into the shipyard this is going to be an exciting mixed use space and 6 thousand hou
My colleagues would see fit to work with the executive director to meet with the budget analyst and meet with the mayors people and i know the dance. I have done it for many years, and i think to do that in regard to getting things like a secretary. We need a secretary. I dont think the next executive director whoever it is should be sitting up here in the middle with us. For one thing that makes that person a target for the public. Oh hes running the place. Whoever the executive director is he should be down there with the staff and a secretary at the end of this table as we had as i recall when i was on the Police Commission carries out all sorts of good functions and briefing us as a commission and at the same time isnt subject to the kind of pressures that the executive director is in terms of well, if i say this will they think im not doing my job right or should i keep this under the table . Those are just the realities of the dynamics between us as a commission and our executive
Hollyfield. Thank you. Of course, well talk about the weather in a second and how this could impact the flames. Its another hot day, especially in that area. First, were going to talk to mike first. Lets talk to you about the weather. Then well get to sue and talk about the impact on traffic. Normally, we want the wind because thats whats bringing in the cooler weather and breaking the heat wave, but you can see not in this case. Exactly, and that wind was impressive. You see how fast the smoke was pluving. Moving from the southwest to northeast at 16 to 20 Miles Per Hour and actually accelerates over the water to about 25 Miles Per Hour. So the smoke is going to move right through the delta communities. The highway 4 corridor. You may smell it, but i dont think its going to cause a reduction in visibility other than possibly right near it. You can see the winds are pretty light, 29 at fairfield, thats what i was talking about, the faster winds as you head east. Theyre going to stay th
Hidden danger in the water. Female, electrocuted, unconscious, breathing. Two young People Killed over the weekend, an 11yearold and 19yearold dying in separate incidents after jumping in lakes, shocked by elecectric currents. The new warning this summer. And severe storm outbreak. 60 million americans in the threat zone this morning after torrential downpours, powerful winds and damaging hail stretch from texas to vermont. This truck flipping over. These homes destroyed. Now the threat moving east and the new tropical systems brewing that could impact the gulf coast. And we do say good morning, america. George taking a little Vacation Time this week. Great to have david here with us on a very busy, busy monday morning and 60 million americans are on alert for that Severe Weather, michael. Yep, and millions more, robin, are cleaning up this morning. Take a look at this damage in nebraska after two tornadoes moved through that area. Just incredible, were thinking about all those familie
The markets. Rally in the homebuilders surging on bullish housing news. Julys new home sales hitting a nineyear high and a blowout quarter, so, is now your best opportunity to move into the housing trade . I think theres more to do here. You think about where Interest Rates are and theres a nice lead time. The implications for the homebuilders, but also home improvements. I think you can look across the spectrum. Bottom line is you saw housing start last week. Were still well below bubble territory. You saw sales today, were back to 2000 bubble down south. That part of o the market is really starting to open up and it speaks well for the economy. So im encouraged. I like gordon. Ipg youve got an opportunity in some of the again, in the Sherwin Williams and rest hard wears. I like the housing starts. We talk specifically about moving out of the cities and finding traction and leaving and having babies and essentially spreading their wings. Babies . Yeah. You see job growth. Thats anothe
