Chandrayaan 3 mission entering sleep mode as lunar night approaches; rover and lander still functional, said ISRO Chief S Somanath. | Latest News India
It is to be noted Lander Vikram and Rover Pragyan, the two pivotal components of the Chandrayaan-3 mission, are in the final leg of their Lunar expedition. ISRO has planned to put them into hibernation, a process more commonly known as 'sleep' mode.
Days after successfully touching down on the lunar surface, Chandrayaan-3's Pragyan rover has traversed over 100 metres, the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) chief S Somanath said.
The Instrument of Lunar Seismic Activity (ILSA) payload on the Chandrayaan-3 lander recorded a natural event that occurred on the Moon's surface on August 26, the source of which is still under investigation, the space agency said.
A senior ISRO scientist on Tuesday said that the rover had moved around 15 meters and that the space agency was trying to cover more areas of the lunar surface.
