Police find man s body in Martic Township lake Sunday

Authorities are working to determine the identity of a man whose body was found in a Martic Township lake on Sunday morning, according to Lancaster County Coroner Dr. Stephen Diamantoni. A dive team was called to the 1100 block of Pennsy Road just before 11:30 a.m. on Sunday, according to a supervisor with Lancaster County Wide Communications. The man, who appears to be elderly, was found in a lake in the area, Diamantoni said. Pennsylvania State Police is investigating the incident, the supervisor said. The body will be brought to a forensic center for confirmation of the man’s identity, Diamantoni said. An autopsy is also planned for Monday morning to determine the man’s cause of death.

73-year-old motorcyclist killed in Sadsbury Township crash Tuesday [update]

The man s age was initially said to be 74, but state police say he was 73.  A man was killed in a two-vehicle crash involving a motorcycle and an Amazon delivery van in Sadsbury Township on Tuesday afternoon, according to Pennsylvania State Police. The motorcyclist was identified by state police as Barry Lee Baum, 73, of Paradise. The crash happened around 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Mine Road and Smyrna Road after a stop sign violation, according to PSP public information officer Kelly Osborne. The intersection is about two miles southeast of the Route 30 interchange in Gap.

Multi-vehicle crash in West Earl Township causes delays along Route 222 North

Traffic along Route 222 in West Earl Township was disrupted Saturday afternoon following a multi-vehicle pileup, according to a supervisor with Lancaster Countywide Communications. A pick-up truck and three or four other cars were involved in a crash along Route 222 northbound between Cocalico Creek and Stone Quarry Road at around 2:58 p.m., the supervisor said. The vehicles were blocking the rightmost lane of northbound traffic on Route 222 near mile marker 35.2.  At least one person sustained an arm injury in the crash, the supervisor said. The supervisor was unsure how serious the injury was.
