African cyber crook stuns cops with 'Jai Mataji' greeting | Surat News

Toty Dago Gregoire SURAT: It was a pleasant surprise for the men in khaki when 33-year-old accused of an online fraud racket Toty Dago Gregoire greeted them with folded hands and ‘Jai Mataji’. Cyber-crime sleuths of city police asked Toty how he mastered the Indian greeting and the man named a hardened criminal Lalu Jalim alias Amit Rajput who, he claimed, taught him the finer nuances of Indian tradition behind bars. When the two hardened criminals met each other in the police lockup of city crime branch, gangster Jalim gave his African counterpart from Ivory Coast a few tips on Indian mannerisms. “He is a quick learner and has been greeting every individual with folded hands since the morning. We were surprised when he credited Jalim for teaching this,” said an official in cyber-crime police station.

Fifth Surat gang booked under GujCTOC | Surat News

Surat: With the detention of five members of the Sajju Kothari gang, city police registered its fifth offence within three months under Gujarat Control of Terrorism and Organised Crime (GujCTOC) Act on Tuesday, continuing its drive against organized crime in the city. The accused are involved in murder and attempt to murder cases registered in different police stations of the city. Sajju is notorious for running gambling activities around his home in Jamrukh Gali of Nanpura. Athwa police station registered the fifth case under the new Act and booked gang leader Sajid alias Sajju Gulam Mohammad Kothari, his brother Yunis, Samir Salim Shaikh, Javid Gulam Hussain, Mohammad Arif alias Popat Shaikh, Arif Abdul Rehman Shaikh, Mohommad Kamil Ali and Hasnain Tahir Kokawala. The accused were booked under various sections of GujCTOC Act. Of the accused police detained Yunis, Javid, Arif Popat, Kamil and Arif Shaikh.

GujCTOC case on three Nagori gang members | Surat News

Accused in police custody Surat: Police arrested three members of Ashraf Nagori gang on Tuesday and slapped provisions of Gujarat Control of Terrorism and Organised Crime (GujCTOC) Act on them. While the key accused Nagori is still evading arrest, this is the third case to be registered under GujCTOC in Surat. Police arrested Mohammad Arif Ismail Nagori, Wasim Mustufa Qureshi and Abdulsamad alias Malbari Gulam Shaikh. The gang leader Mohammad Ashraf Ismail Nagori and his aide Mohammad Firoz alais Gazni Farid Ansari are yet to get arrested. So far 12 offences of various types of crime have been registered against the gang and its members since 2013 in different police stations of the city. Cops were collecting details of Nagori gang’s past criminal records since the last few weeks. The gangsters have been arrested for attempt to murder, extortion, possessing arms, dealing in arms and attack.

Jalim gang in Surat second to get booked under GuCTOC | Surat News

SURAT: With 11 members of Amit Rajput alias Lalu Jalim’s gang booked for carrying out organized crime, Surat crime branch registered second offence under Gujarat Control of Terrorism and Organised Crime Act (GujCTOC) on Tuesday. Of the 11, cops have already arrested three accused. The gang has 94 offences including murder, extortion, threatening, assault and others registered against it which it executed jointly or individually. On November 27, Asif Tameta’s 13-member gang was the first to be booked under the Act and 10 members of the gang have been arrested so far. Of the Jalim gang, police arrested Shivam Rajput, Nilesh Avchite and Jagdish Kantariya while eight others including kingpin Amit alias Lalu Jalim, Dipak Jayswal, Shailendra Sharma, Jagdish Kantariya, Aashish Pande, Nikunj Chauhan, Ravi alias Dhanu Shinde, Nayan Barot and Avnesh Rajput are still on the run.
