Human Rights Groups, CHSR Condemn Continuous Silence Of Governor Sanwo-Olu Over Land Grabbing Epidemic, Murder In Lagos

Civil Society Stakeholders under the platform of the Centre for Human and Socio-Economic Rights (CHSR) have expressed their dissatisfaction over the continued silence of the Babajide Sanwo-Olu-led Lagos State Government in the land grabbing “epidemic” ravaging some communities in the state. The group made this known in a press statement released by Alex Omotehinse, President CHSR demanding that the government and all relevant stakeholders rise up against the unlawful activities of land grabbers in the state which sometimes led to murder.

Asset Management Corporation of Nigeria (AMCON). Residents and landlords of Victory Park Estate, Lekki, Lagos have accused the Asset Management Corporation of Nigeria (AMCON) of harassment over their properties, despite pending court cases and orders. Two of such pending cases were filed by Mrs B.E. Ibude and Mr Okechukwu Okoli, alongside his wife against AMCON and its receiver-manager, Mr Lanre Olaoluwa. The plaintiffs obtained injunctions against the respondents, but AMCON appealed the decisions. The estate spans almost 50 hectares and is one of the gated communities in the Igbokushu area of Lekki Peninsula Scheme 1. The residents are accusing AMCON and its receiver-manager of outright disregard for law and order and illegal use of official powers.
