Youths Call For Police Investigation Into Murder, Land-grabbing Activities, Breach Of Peace In Lagos Community

Some youths in Ojomu community in Ajiranland, Eti-Osa have urged the police to probe the gruesome murder of Mr. Sheriff Salami in the community. Salami was killed on April 18, 2023, and the youths are calling for an investigation into his death and other nefarious activities of land-grabbers in the Lagos community. It was learnt that Salami was one of the youth leaders opposed to the land-grabbing activities of some people in the area, allegedly led by one Akeem Ahmed Tajudeen.

Human Rights Groups, CHSR Condemn Continuous Silence Of Governor Sanwo-Olu Over Land Grabbing Epidemic, Murder In Lagos

Civil Society Stakeholders under the platform of the Centre for Human and Socio-Economic Rights (CHSR) have expressed their dissatisfaction over the continued silence of the Babajide Sanwo-Olu-led Lagos State Government in the land grabbing “epidemic” ravaging some communities in the state. The group made this known in a press statement released by Alex Omotehinse, President CHSR demanding that the government and all relevant stakeholders rise up against the unlawful activities of land grabbers in the state which sometimes led to murder.

Some youths in a Lagos State community under the Ojomu Youth Forum and Concerned Indigenes of Ajiran Land have dismissed media reports that they were behind land grabbing activities in the area, while alleging that their traditional ruler, “Oba Akinloye and Alhaji Yekini Bakare” were the real culprits. Earlier, a civil society under the platform of Centre for Human and Socio-Economic Rights (CHSR) had in a press conference called on the government to intervene and end harassment of authentic allottees and rightful owners of lands in Ojomu community.
