Breaking: 14 persons burnt to death on Lagos-Ibadan expressway accident

No fewer than 14 passengers (11 adults and three children) were on Thursday night burnt to death in an accident around the Lagos-Ibadan expressway.
The spokesperson, Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps (TRACE), Mr Babatunde Akinbiyi, confirmed the incident to newsmen in Abeokuta on Friday.
Confirming the incident, Akinbiyi said the accident involved a silver Toyota RAV 4, with registration number, LND 13 GS, a silver Toyota Camry marked, GGE 369 GJ, and a Mazda bus with an unidentified number.
The TRACE spokesman said the accident occurred at 8:20 p.m. on Thursday night.

Security operatives have killed eight hoodlums who attacked the Orlu Divisional Police Headquarters in Imo State on Thursday night.
DAILY POST gathered that yet to be identified hoodlums invaded the police headquarters on Thursday night but were repelled by joint security operatives.
Source revealed that gun battle between the security operatives and the hoodlums lasted for about three hours.
The source also revealed that about six vehicles were recovered from the hoodlums during the attack.
Details of the report are still sketchy as the state’s Police Public Relations Officer, SP Ikeokwu Godson Orlando was unable to take his calls or respond to text messages forwarded to him.
The bus was said to have lost control and somersaulted severally before bursting into flames.
The Spokesman of Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps (TRACE), Babatunde Akinbiyi, confirmed the accident on Friday morning.
Akinbiyi said 14 passengers including three children were confirmed burnt to death “in the unfortunate ghastly auto crash.”
“In all, 17 passengers were in the bus when the crash happened, with three seriously injured, and 14 burnt beyond recognition, among which are three kids,” he said.
He said TRACE operatives and other security agencies rushed two victims to the Lagos State Accident and Emergency Centre and one other to the General Hospital, Gbagada, Lagos.

Tragedy struck on Thursday night, as an unconfirmed number of passengers were reportedly burnt to death in a road accident.
The accident happened around 10:20pm at the Long Bridge axis of the Lagos-Ibadan Exxpressway, Obafemi/Owode Local Government area of Ogun state .
The accident involved a silver Toyota RAV 4, with registration number, LND 13 GS, a silver Toyota Camry marked, GGE 369 GJ and a burnt Mazda bus with an unidentified number plate.
Our correspondent gathered that the burnt commercial bus was involved in a wrongful overtaking before it hit a stationary faulty vehicle, the Toyota Rav 4, that was parked in the middle of the road.
