(AFRICAN EXAMINER) – No fewer than 14 passengers – 11 adults and three children – were on Thursday night burnt to death in an accident around the Long Bridge on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.
Babatunde Akinbiyi, the spokesperson, Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps, confirmed the incident to newsmen in Abeokuta on Friday.
African Examiner reports that TRACE had earlier stated that an unspecified number of persons were burnt to death in the auto crash.
Giving an update on the incident, Akinbiyi said the accident involved a silver Toyota RAV 4 with registration number LND 13 GS, a silver Toyota Camry marked GGE 369 GJ, and a Mazda bus with an unidentified number.

Fourteen persons, including three children, were burnt to death in an auto crash that happened along the long bridge on the Lagos -Ibadan Expressway, on Thursday night.
According to information provided by the Public Relations Officer of the Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps (TRACE), Babatunde Akinbiyi said the accident occured at about 8.20 pm.
He attributed the cause of the accident to wrongful overtaking on the part of a commercial Mazda bus who rammed into a stationary vehicle (Toyota Rava 4) said to have broken down in the middle of the highway.

An accident that occurred on the Long Bridge axis of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway on Thursday night has left no fewer than 14 passengers dead.
The victims, 11 adults, and three children were burnt to death beyond recognition.

The TRACE spokesman said the accident occurred at 8:20 pm on Thursday night, adding that the commercial Mazda bus was allegedly involved in wrongful overtaking before it hit a faulty Toyota RAV 4 that was parked.
