KMC staff told to perform rainwater drainage duty diligently July 15, 2021 Karachi Administrator Laeeq Ahmed visited the city immediately after monsoon rain and inspected the rainwater drainage process on Wednesday. He also checked on the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) personnel deployed in different areas, and drainage machinery and pumps. The administrator gave necessary instructions to the officers in charge of drainage works and asked them to perform their duties diligently so that the citizens could be kept safe from difficulties in the rainy season. He also spoke to Managing Director Karachi Water and Sewerage Board (KWSB) Asadullah Khan about a sewerage line on Dr Ziauddin Ahmed Road and said it was a very important area where traffic pressure was very high, so the issue should be resolved as soon as possible.

CM cancels relevant officials leave in view of rain emergency

July 15, 2021 Sindhâs chief minister has ordered the cancellation of leave of all the employees of the district administration, the police and the local bodies, and other essential staff, directing the chief secretary to set up a rain emergency cell at his office for the necessary coordination. Syed Murad Ali Shah took these decisions on Wednesday during a meeting that he chaired at the CM House to discuss the rain emergency and review the monsoon preparations. Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) Director General Salman Shah told the meeting that the Pakistan Meteorological Department had issued Outlook for Monsoon 2021 (July to September), under which rainfall was expected to remain near to normal. He said the areaâs weighted normal rainfall of Pakistan between July and September was 140.8mm.

KARACHI: While a few areas of Karachi received rain early on Wednesday morning, light showers in several other areas in the evening turned the city’s prevailing hot and humid weather pleasant. The Met department has forecast hot and humid weather with chances of rain-thunderstorms at evening/night in Karachi for Thursday with maximum temperature ranging between 36 degrees Celsius and 38 degrees Celsius. On Wednesday, the maximum temperature in the city was 39.7 degrees Celsius. The Met department recorded 2mm rain each in Gulshan-i-Hadeed, PAF Masroor Base and Jinnah terminal. It recorded 1.6mm rain at Karachi University/Met complex, 0.7mm in the old Airport area, 1.1mm at PAF Base Faisal while North Karachi and Saadi Town had traces of rainfall.
