Norman Richards, a 61-year-old Gatineau resident, was killed early Monday morning in that city’s first homicide this year.
According to Gatineau police, the incident occurred shortly after 12:30 a.m. on Wychwood Drive, in Aylmer.

When police arrived, Richards and another man, Luk Deslauriers-Forest, were engaged in an altercation, police said. Both injured, the two were transported for treatment to Hull Hospital, where Richards was pronounced dead.
Deslauriers-Forest, in his 30s, has been charged with second-degree murder. He appeared before the Court of Quebec via telephone on Monday. He remains in detention in hospital, where he is still receiving treatment.
