Good evening. I am delighted and really honored to be here to talk about the battle for life champlain in 1814. Been thinking about for several years have i seen the bicentennial coming. I have not been a student of the war of 18 well my whole life. I of 1812 my whole life. I connected with the shipwrecks through Lake Champlain. Over the last several years, we have been traveling with our our Reach Program in interpreting the war of 1812, knowing that in 1914, we were going to have an opportunity to talk about the things that happened here, which we think are really very important and very special. Its also important to acknowledge that september 11 is a powerful date in history. I spoke to my elderly mom today in new york city, and she told me she was watching tv where they were reciting the names of all the folks who lost their lives back in. My brother, my cousin, my dad, all of those losses that hap pened. I feel for that. In fact, in the aftermath of 9 11, i was traumatized enough
