Search for missing boy Kyrin Carter: Body found in Little Calumet River in Hammond

HAMMOND, Ind. - Dive crews looking for signs of missing 12-year-old Kyrin Carter recovered a body late Monday in the Little Calumet River in Hammond, Indiana.
The Lake County (Ind.) Coroner s Office identified the body Tuesday morning as Kyrin Carter. The cause of death has not yet been determined.
About 8:15 p.m. Monday, officers received a call from a volunteer kayaker who said he found a body about 300 feet from where Carter went missing.

A body was discovered in the Little Calumet River Monday night in the area where they ve been searching for missing 12-year-old Kyrin Carter.
HAMMOND â A body discovered in the Little Calumet River on Monday night has been confirmed as that of 12-year-old Kyrin Carter, the Lake County coroner s office announced Tuesday.
A coroner s release sent at 6:11 a.m. listed the boy s manner of death and nature of injuries as pending. He was pronounced dead about 10 p.m. Monday.
Hammond police cars blocked the intersection of 179th Street and New Jersey Avenue around that time.
A Lake County coroner s van also was on the scene.
