Nikefiled a trademark lawsuit against MSCHF Product Studio, the NYC company behind the shoes, THR reported Thursday (April 1).
Nike followed up with a motion for a temporary restraining order and preliminary injunction.
MSCHF’s attorneys argued that the 666 pairs of shoes are “not typical sneakers, but rather individually-numbered works of art that were sold to collectors for $1,018 each,” and just like an earlier limited-edition run of Jesus Shoes, these will be displayed as artistic pieces, even in museums.
