Closed coffee shop caused by a lockdown to prevent the corona virus
(Seguin) Additional COVID-19 restrictions are back in place for some local businesses, because the hospitalization rate has gone up in this region. This means that restaurants will again have to reduce their capacity, and it could also force some bars to close completely.
Bryce Houlton, Guadalupe County Assistant Emergency Management Coordinator, delivered the news during Tuesday’s meeting of the Guadalupe County Commissioners Court. Houlton says the number of positive COVID-19 cases is again on the rise.
“As of (Tuesday) morning, (the) confirmed active cases in New Braunfels (was) 18, 42 in Cibolo, 50 in Seguin, 30 in Schertz, three in Marion, one in Selma and 81 in the unincorporated areas for a confirmed active total of 225. (Seguin) – Guadalupe County will soon welcome a new human resources director. The Guadalupe County Commissioners Court recently appointed Leticia Mejia as the county’s new HR director. Mejia was selected from a pool of applicants all looking to fill the shoes of longtime HR Director Cheraun Blankenship. Blankeship, who was eligible for retirement in years with the county, has moved on and has accepted a job with the Texas Association of Counties.
Guadalupe County Judge Kyle Kutscher says Mejia bring years of experience to the county’s operation.

(Seguin) The Guadalupe County Commissioners Court has appointed a new County Court at Law Judge #2. After interviewing and deliberating its list of candidates behind closed doors, the court on Tuesday reconvened in open session to appoint Kirsten Legore to the unexpired term of current Judge Frank Follis who has chosen to retire.
Guadalupe County Judge Kyle Kutscher says the appointment was made after a very thorough review of candidates.
“We’ve gone through a process of getting applicants, interested individuals to submit their applications, questionnaires. We reviewed those and selected a handful of applicants and attorneys to interview. We’ve gone through the interviews so what we did, went back into executive session, had further conversations,” said Kutscher. “I think we had a situation where we had nine interested candidates and interviewed five people that have all been involved and active in our community,
