60% of waste materials on the beaches is plastic - ARAB TIMES

Messenger KUWAIT CITY, March 6: Several volunteer teams are continuing to combat the phenomenon of the presence of waste materials and garbage in several beaches in Kuwait Bay, with the cooperation of the state agencies concerned with the environment, including Kuwait Dive Team, and the Environment Public Authority (EPA). They have been sorting through and studying the type of waste materials collected from seven beaches recently, and discovered that plastic was the most predominant among the waste materials in these areas, reports Al-Qabas daily. The joint efforts between Kuwait Dive Team and EPA seek to determine the volume of waste being spread on the coasts and beaches. It begins with the implementation of a process to sort through and study the waste materials scattered in seven different places in the northern region to understand the level of environmental threat resulting from it.

Dead whale found near Doha Bridge - ARAB TIMES

Messenger KUWAIT CITY, Jan 17: The Ministry of Interior, represented by the General Department of Coast Guard and Kuwait Fire Service Directorate (KFSD), the Environment Public Authority (EPA), Public Authority for Agricultural Affairs and Fish Resources (PAAAFR), Kuwait Dive Team, and the Kuwait Ports Authority coordinated to deal with a dead whale of about 20 feet long as soon as a report was received regarding its presence near Doha Bridge, reports Al-Qabas daily. Efforts were exerted by these state authorities to remove the dead whale from the navigation area inside Kuwait Bay in order to avoid marine accidents, as it was located in the area between the free trade zone and the Doha Bridge towards Shuwaikh Port, berth No. 15 in preparation for its lifting.
