Budaun (Uttar Pradesh) [India], January 8 (ANI): The key accused in the Budaungangrape and murder case, who was arrested on Thursday, has been sent to judicial custody till January 18 by a trial court.
Speaking to ANI, Vijay Yadav, Assistant Prosecution Officer, CJM Court said, The priest (main accused) was arrested today and sent to judicial custody till January 18. The other two accused had already been arrested and sent to jail.
A 50-year-old Anganwadi worker was gangraped and murdered in the Ughaiti area of Uttar Pradesh s Budaun district on Tuesday.

BADAUN: In a late-night crackdown, the Uttar Pradesh Police arrested a priest who is the main accused in the alleged gang rape of an anganwadi worker here. District Magistrate Kumar Prashant said on Thursday midnight that mahant (priest) Satya Narayan was hiding in the house of his follower in a village under Ughaiti police station from where he was picked up.

Badaun, Jan 8: Satyanand, the main accused in the Badaun gangrape and murder case, landed in police net, late on Thursday night, almost four days after a 50-year-old woman was allegedly gang-raped and abandoned outside her home at a village in Badaun district.

Badaun rape-murder case: Main accused arrested
Days after a 50-year-old woman was gang-raped and murdered in Budaun district of Uttar Pradesh, police have arrested a local temple priest, the main accused in the case. He was arrested from a nearby village in the district on Thursday.
The priest has been identified as Satyanand. Police said that he was hinding in the house of one of his followers. District Magistrate Kumar Prashant confirmed that Satyanand was taken into custody by cops from the house of one of his followers.
The 50-year-old anganwadi worker was gang-raped and murdered allegedly by the priest and his two accomplices in Budaun. While the priest was on the run, his two accomplices were arrested on Tuesday night.
