The Monterey County District Attorney s Office has filed charges against a Pacific Grove man. 58 year old David Russell Stamm is alleged to have molested to children under 14 years old when he was the owner of the Monterey batting cages. According to official documents the incidents took place in 1998 through 1999 and the summer of 2005.

The 19 year-old San Jose man, who was the driver in this morning’s fatal High Speed chase and crash, on the Morrissey Boulevard Off Ramp from southbound Highway 1, was arrested on suspicion of Felony D-U-I, Gross Vehicular Manslaughter While Intoxicated, Felony Hit-And-Run, and Felony Evading a Peace Officer. 3 other passengers were in the vehicle with him at the time. The front right passenger was able to exit the car after the crash (as was the driver, but the car then caught fire trapping the backseat occupants. Although Santa Cruz Police Officers arrived quickly, and were able to extract the two, a second 19 year-old San Jose man was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver, a 17 year-old passenger, and a 20 year-old passenger suffered only minor injuries in the early morning crash.

A Salinas resident has been sentenced to eight years and eight months in prison on multiple charges related to crimes in Seaside and Monterey.
The Monterey County District Attorney s Office said that 22-year-old Rafael Guzman was charged with first-degree robbery while armed with a gun, first-degree burglary, robbery, grand theft and two counts of unlawfully taking a vehicle. Police say he was involved in four separate incidents and multiple crimes.

Monterey County health officials have provided an update on COVID-19 and they said about 48% of Monterey County residents aged 16 and older have already received a vaccine.
Starting tomorrow (Thursday), all California residents aged 16 and older become eligible to get the COVID vaccine.
