Altercation yesterday caught on video. Nbc bay areas bob redell is there. What are the students who are attending today what has it been like for them this morning . Reporter many did not show up. I just spoke up with vallejo unified and they tell us theres about 1,280 kids and this morning roughly 350 of them stayed home because of the shooting that took place pretty much where im standing just outside the entrance to the school here across the street in front of the campus. As you can see, Vallejo Police did drive by the school several times this morning as parents dropped off their kids. The district says they will have more staff patrolling the campus and they have counselors on site for any students or staff who want to talk about what happened yesterday. Now, this video is from the blog vallejo crime and safety and you can see it captured the moments leading right up to the shooting, and you can hear there the sound of the gunshots themselves. mike has an update on road conditions in a moment. kari, we are waking up to a windy morning. you need both hands on the steering wheel and it s chilly out there as we see temperatures starting out in the mid to upper 40s. yeah, the wind has been the big issue as you head out right now with a live look outside in san rafael. still breezy, wind coming in from the north at about 13, 16 miles an hour, and that s keeping those temperatures up in a lot of spots. we are going to see another cool morning leading into a mild afternoon. and the north bay, a little bit warmer than what we ll see elsewhere with a high of 64 degrees in santa rosa. we ll reach 59 degrees today in hayward. as we head through the forecast, more warmer weather midweek. we ll talk about that in a few minutes. and, mike, you were saying there was a crash reported at the bay bridge. absolutely at the toll plaza. no lane information was given. why that is critical so we can know what lane is stopped up and w
fairfield, 50 degrees. 49 in point reyes and redwood city 45 degrees. walnut creek, here is how the day looks for you. we are going to have a cool morning with sunshine, some upper 50s, but we know it s still pretty windy out there and even at 10:00 we re still seeing some of the coastal and hill wind gusts at 30 miles an hour. and then as we go into today, gradually those winds start to calm down but still a pretty breezy and cool day. we ll talk about what s ahead in our forecast in a few minutes. mike is saying right now the commute is pretty smooth. pretty calm right now. we have a lot of issues that were caused by the rains cleared up. as kari reminds us, it s not completely gone. there s still a lot of moisture in the soil. a very good chance there may be more movement. that s why we re watching highway 84 which reopened, but we have improvement like the pavement work that continues here northbound 680. that should clear up in the next few minutes. we ll track that. h
