(WKBW) — Buffalo Public Schools Superintendent Dr. Kriner Cash provided an update on Phase III and Phase IV of reopening Thursday. In a letter to board members and the BPS community, Cash said: Covid-19 infections are rising again across the region, a more contagious variant is spreading, and we are working to recover from a malicious cyberattack. Those significant challenges notwithstanding, I have directed staff to bring back all remaining high school opt-in students on April 26th. Remaining elementary opt-in students will come back on May 10th. We will discuss further details at our April 14th Board Work Session and defer to updated recommendations from our Medical Director and local health experts.

Buffalo Schools Superintendent Dr. Kriner Cash sent a note Thursday to parents and the Buffalo Public Schools community in regards to in-person learning. Dr. Cash says he has ordered staff to bring back all remaining high school opt-in students beginning April 26, and the remaining elementary opt-in students will come back May 10.   The district will discuss further details at the April 14 Board Work Session and defer updated recommendations to their medical director and local health experts. The district recently brought back students to class a couple weeks ago as part of their phase II plan.

For the Buffalo School District, it s been another long day of working with Information Technology, cybersecurity consultants, and the FBI as they try to recover from Friday s ransomware attack, which took down their computer systems with a demand for payment. Their files were apparently encrypted and the hacker wants to be paid to give the district access once again.
