Wilmina Mae Nystrom “Mina” (age 94) of Crosby passed away on February 11, 2023. Mina was born October 16, 1928 in Mora, Minnesota to Luella (Kreisel) and Irl Hoffman. She lived on a farm to the age of 7 but her father died and she moved into the town of Mora with her mother and two younger sisters.
Lester “Les” Goodman, age 100, of Emily, MN entered into eternal life on Friday, December 9, 2022 at the Fergus Falls Veteran Home. He was surrounded by his loved ones.
Monica Josephine Provost reached the end of her 97-year earthly journey on November 18, 2022. She was born to Arthur and Genevieve Kenyon in Brainerd, March 19, 1925, the youngest of three girls. She graduated from the Brainerd High School. She migrated over to Crosby where she worked a couple of different jobs and was even named Miss C-I in 1948. She worked in an ammunition plant in Nebraska during the war, after which she returned to Minnesota to marry the love of her life, Merrill Provost. Together they would raise three children. When the mines began to close on the Cuyuna Range, they moved the family to Eagle Mountain, California; remaining there until 1977 when Merrill retired. Following retirement, they moved to Indio, California and became snowbirds between Crosby and Indio. Monica’s magnificent life was based on her very strong faith. She was very active with the CCW for many years and enjoyed serving and volunteering. Her focus in life was her family. She was a stay-at-home
Most of the events will take place on Saturday, Dec. 3, at Snow Many Smiles in Crosby’s Memorial Park which will be transformed into a dazzling holiday wonderland.
James Willard Holman, age 84 of Ironton died on November 5, 2022 at the Cuyuna Regional Care Center in Crosby. Jim was diagnosed with Parkinson’s and later dementia. He was born in Milbank, SD on March 2, 1938. Jim lived with his grandparents in Big Stone, SD until he moved to Minneapolis with his mother and step father when he was 6 years old. He graduated from Central High School in Minneapolis, class of 1957. Jim married Bettie Roggenbuck on October 3, 1959 in Big Stone, SD. Together they made their home in Minneapolis where they raised their family. Jim and Bettie retired in September of 1996, moving to Shirt Lake in Deerwood which was named Holman Point Drive, which joins with 2 other neighboring properties. They enjoyed family and grandchildren and being a part of the Lake Association. Jim enjoyed hunting and fishing and was happiest being outside taking care of yard and gardens. He was member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Crosby.
