Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, during his visit to poll-bound Kerala on Wednesday, dived into the sea with local fishermen while out fishing.
Mr Gandhi was on a boat with several fishermen when he suddenly jumped into the water. The 50-year-old MP swam for 10 minutes before returning to the shore, news agency PTI reported quoting Congress sources. He was accompanied by four Congress leaders including KC Venugopal and TN Prathapan.

Kollam (Kerala) [India], February 24 (ANI): Days after wrongly claiming that there is no dedicated ministry to deal with the issues of fishermen, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday repeated his promise of forming a Central ministry dedicated to fishermen of India.
The comments of the Congress MP came at an interaction with the fishing community in Kollam s Thangassery. Just like our farmers farm the land, you farm the sea. Farmers have a Ministry in Delhi, you don t. No one speaks for you in Delhi. The first thing I would do is to have a ministry dedicated to the fishermen of India so that your issues can be defended and protected, said the Congress leader in Kollam. He made a similar gaffe in Puducherry earlier this month.

NEW DELHI: As Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday repeated his gaffe stating that he will strive for the creation of a fisheries ministry at the Centre, Union power minister R K Singh today said the senior leaders from the Congress party should inform him that a separate ministry already exists under the leadership of Union minister Giriraj Singh. It seems that no one has given information on fisheries ministry to him and he does not know about it. It is important that senior leaders of the Congress Party should make him understand so that he doesn t make such statements. The party leader should correct him that the government of India has already a fisheries ministry and Giriraj Singh is Cabinet minister and ministry is doing a lot of developmental work, RK Singh, minister of state for power (Independent Charge) told ANI.
