KOLAR: Wistron Corporation in Narapura industrial area which manufactures iPhones has been shut down for seven days after around 60 positive cases were reported at the unit.
On the instruction of Kolar Deputy Commissioner Dr Selvamani, the unit has totally suspended all work from May 1 to May 7 and started disinfecting the entire premises.

KOLAR: The police have provided tight security at the Narasapura Industrial Hub, particularly near Wistron Corporation unit, which witnessed
large-scale violence by its workers on December 12, said Inspector General of Police (Central) Seemant Kumar Singh, here on Wednesday.
The police are extending all help to the company, which makes iPhones, to restart operations at the earliest, he added. In all, four criminal cases have been filed three on the complaints by Wistron officials and one from the police, he said.
The Kolar police have so far arrested 167 workers, including a few women, in connection with the violence. The rioting workers were arrested after verification of the CCTV footage. Some protesters are missing, but they will be traced and arrested soon, he added.

KOLAR: The workers of Wistron Corporation booked under various sections by Vemgal police for vandalising the facility on Saturday have been sent to separate jails. Reason: There is no space in Kolar jail. The arrested workers were produced before the jurisdictional court and were remanded to judicial custody.
According to sources, the accused persons were sent to Chitradurga, Chinthamani (Chikballapur district) and KGF jails. This was done on the instruction of the senior prison officials in Bengaluru to Kolar jail officers, who took the court’s permission for shifting them to different jails.
According to Kolar Superintendent of Police Karthick Reddy, so far, 149 workers of Wistron have been arrested after detailed inquiry and due verification of the footage of the company and also the videos which went viral.

Kolar police officer said that damaging the property of the company where they are working at is not fair and said legal action will be initiated against the concerned.
