CCTV footage released by official media of the National Unity Government showed that two central committee members, U Ba Myo Thein and U Soe Win (aka U Soe Lay) and youth party member Ko Hein Min Htet were forcibly abducted while they were preparing to leave the office.

U Kyaw Kyaw, an executive member of the NLD’s branch in Naypyitaw’s Zabuthiri Township, died on March 30 while being interrogated by the security forces. He is the third member of the NLD to die in custody since the junta’s Feb. 1 coup.

Myanmar Protesters Recall Regime s Torture During Detention Riot police and soldiers beat civilians during a crackdown on anti-regime protesters in Mandalay. 7.7k By The Irrawaddy 10 March 2021 “It was a hell,” said 30-year-old Ko Thura, who was tortured in military custody for around four hours in Myeik, Tanintharyi Region. The Irrawaddy interviewed two of the protesters among those being tortured after their release from custody. Thura is a false name used to protect the protester. Around 70 protesters, including many students, were arrested at around 9am on Tuesday in the southern city where they gathered to protest against the military regime. The detainees were sent to Myeik’s airbase, separated by gender and the male protesters were ordered to strip, bow their heads and kneel.
