Thursday, December 17th, Galesburg Police responded to the 1000 block of West Berrien Street in reference to a gunshot. Police had received a call from the 1000 block of West Brooks Street where they were told a dog had been struck by gunfire. Police met with the resident there who told police she let her dogs out and after she heard a gunshot, she let her dogs back in. According to police reports, she discovered a bullet hole in the wood siding of her home. When her Doberman Pinscher came inside, a one-inch bloody wound was discovered near the dog’s stomach. The Knox County Humane Society was notified as well as the Knoxville Veterinary Clinic where doctors told the pet owner the wound was not life-threatening.
