Addiction, substance abuse a constant concern for Children Services workers

Sarah Newland, executive director of the Allen County Children Services agency, was the guest speaker Tuesday the weekly meeting of the Kiwanis Club of Lima. Her presentation was in conjunction with Child Abuse Prevention Month, which is celebrated each year in April.

Sarah Newland, newly-appointed executive director of the Allen County Children Services agency, shared with members of the Kiwanis Club of Lima details of the agency’s Ohio Start program, designed to assist families where parental drug addiction is present.

Kiwanis Club of Lima hearing from ‘Connected Hope’ founder
LIMA The Kiwanis Club of Lima will meet at noon Tuesday, Jan. 12 via Zoom.
Russ Thomas will discuss Connected Hope, his bus ministry to serve the homeless. Thomas also renovated a building and established a church, where he pastors and reaches out to help recovering addicts.

The Kiwanis Club of Lima will meet via Zoom on Tuesday, January 12, at 12:00 noon.
Guest speaker Russ Thomas will discuss Connected Hope, his bus ministry used to serve the homeless. He will share some events in his life that led to his passion for helping others. In addition to the bus ministry, Russ renovated a building and established a church, which he pastors and uses as an outreach to help recovering addicts.
