The Kiwanis Club of Los Altos recently donated $1,500 to a charity in Boy Scout Troop 75’s name in appreciation of the troop’s decade-plus of supporting Kiwanis Christmas Tree Lot sales and fundraising. The troop chose Stephen & Ayesha Curry s EAT. LEARN. PLAY. as the charity.
Over the years, Troop 75 Scouts have spent hundreds of hours selling trees, sweeping, setting up and tearing down the tree lot. This year, the Scouts were not able to volunteer in person but continue to help the Kiwanis Club by providing tree delivery service to homes in Los Altos and surrounding areas.
According to Troop 75 parent volunteer Angela Hum Kawahara, a single, elderly woman who ordered a tree last week from the Kiwanis lot was so grateful, she tipped the Troop 75 Scout $20. In turn, the Scout donated that tip to the Kiwanis Club.
