NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday praised the Aligarh Muslim University and said it has worked to strengthen India s relations with many countries of the world in the last 100 years.
Speaking at the centenary celebrations of Aligarh Muslim University (AMU), he said that the research done at AMU on Urdu, Arabic and Persian languages, research on Islamic literature, gives new energy to India s cultural relations with the entire Islamic world. The way AMU has helped society during the coronavirus crisis is unprecedented - free tests, building isolation wards, plasma banks and contributing a large amount to the PM CARES Fund shows the seriousness of fulfilling your obligations to the society, PM Modi said via video conferencing.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address the centenary celebrations of Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) on Tuesday via video conferencing. At 11 AM tomorrow, 22nd December, will be speaking at the centenary celebrations of the Aligarh Muslim University, PM Modi wrote on Twitter.
Prime Minister Modi will also release a postal stamp during the event, according to Prime Minister s Office (PMO). Chancellor of the University Syedna Mufaddal Saifuddin and Union Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank will also be present on the occasion.
The Prime Minister will be accompanied by Union Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank. This is the first time PM Modi will participate in a programme of the Aligarh Muslim University.

PM Modi to be chief guest at AMU s centenary celebrations
Prime Minister Narendra Modi was the chief guest at the virtual centenary celebrations of Aligarh Muslim University on Tuesday, where also addressed the centenary celebrations of the university, via video conferencing. This was the first time in 56 years that an Indian prime minister attended an event at the AMU. According to a university official, PM Modi also released a special postal stamp to mark the occasion.
Chancellor of the University Syedna Mufaddal Saifuddin and Union Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank also joined the event via video conferencing.
Extending gratitude to Modi, AMU Vice Chancellor Tariq Mansoor said the AMU community is thankful to the PM for accepting the invitation to participate in the celebrations marking 100 years of the university.
