The Samyukt Kisan Morcha (SKM), an umbrella body of farmers’ unions leading the agitation called the violent incidents on Republic Day a ‘dirty conspiracy’ hatched with another farmers’ organisation against the peaceful struggle of farmers.
After its emergency meeting, the SKM issued a statement alleging that anti-social elements such as Deep Sidhu attempted to torpedo the agitation.

Violence erupted Tuesday in several parts of Delhi during the farmers’ tractor rally. Police had to use force and fire tear gas shells to disperse the unruly mob that tried to break barriers. A group of farmers even laid siege to the Red Fort. Some of them hoisted religious flags on the flagpole from which the Tricolour flies.

New Delhi: A day after January 26 violence, farmers unions Wednesday said there was a conspiracy to defame their peaceful stir even as Delhi Police filed First Information Report (FIR) against Rakesh Tikait and others for defying the guidelines agreed upon before their rally.
The Delhi Police has named Bharatiya Kisan Union (BKU) spokesperson Rakesh Tikait beside other farmer leaders in the FIR over the violence that broke out in various parts of the national capital during the farmers tractor rally on Tuesday.
