EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WFIE) - Crews responded to a house fire in the 1400 block of N. Weinbach Avenue in Evansville Thursday morning.
Dispatch tells us that call came in around 5:50 a.m.
Crews say the fire started in a basement bedroom.
Officials say five people were living in the home, but they all made it out safely.
Authorities also say they had four dogs, six cats and a snake in the home. They say fire crews rescued two of the dogs. However, four cats died in the fire.

WARRICK CO., Ind. (WFIE) - Indiana State Police says State Road 62 in Warrick County is back open after a deadly crash Tuesday morning.
It happened around 7:30 a.m.
Troopers say a tractor-trailer was stopped at a red light on SR 62 eastbound just west of Epworth Road.
They say 70-year-old Sheila Shofstall, of Chandler, was driving her 2007 Kia and was also stopped on SR 62 behind the tractor-trailer.
Dense fog was in the area and visibility was limited.

EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WFIE) - Evansville fire crews responded to a house fire in the 1700 block of Washington Avenue Friday morning.
The Evansville Fire Department arrived quickly and put the fire out. Fire officials say the damage is limited to the living room with heavy smoke damage throughout the first floor of the home.
Officials say one person was taken to St. Vincent Hospital and was flown to Indianapolis for smoke inhalation and second-degree burns to their hands and face. A dog that was also rescued is in Animal Control’s custody.
