Former Warriors props Albert Vete and King Vuniyayawa hope shifting to Super League will be their springboard to the Rugby League World Cup. Vete, who has two caps for Tonga, has joined Hull Kingston Rovers on a two-year deal, while Fiji international Vuniyayawa is on a one-season deal at the Leeds Rhinos. Vuniyayawa, 25, made his Warriors debut last year, playing five NRL games before opting to return to Auckland after the club was forced to relocate to Australia due to the Covid-19 crisis.

Upon signing with UK Super League side the Leeds Rhinos
this week, Manurewa Marlins junior King Vuniyayawa took time
to thank the south Auckland club for helping him to achieve
his dream.
The 25-year-old forward appeared for
Manurewa in Auckland s Crown Lift Trucks Fox Championship as
recently as 2019, before going on to make his NRL debut in
2020, playing five first-grade games with the New Zealand
Warriors before suffering a season-ending broken
hand.
Vuniyayawa, who is a capped Fijian
international, also played first-division league with Howick
and Papakura prior to making his NRL
debut.

King Vuniyayawa has joined Leeds Rhinos on a one-year contract from NRL side New Zealand Warriors
Fiji Bati rep, King Vuniyayawa has found a new home in Super League after being released by the Warriors after his maiden NRL season.
The 25-year-old has signed a one-year deal with the Leeds Rhinos for the 2021 season due to start in March.
Vuniyayawa made his NRL debut for the Warriors in round one of the 2020 season, but played just five games.
He was among a group of four players who chose to leave the Warriors’ Australian training base last July to return to Auckland to be with their families.
