Twon Brass Protest: Diri condemns attack on Diette-Spiff

Bayelsa State Governor, Senator Douye Diri, has condemned the attack on the Amanyanabo of Twon-Brass, King Alfred Diette-Spiff, by youths of the kingdom.
King Diete-Spiff was the first Military Governor of the old Rivers State and current chairman of the state Traditional Rulers Council.
Diri expressed his displeasure on Monday during a meeting with leaders of Twon-Brass in the Brass Local Government Area to resolve misunderstandings in the area.
The governor In a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Daniel Alabrah, acknowledged the right of people to embark on peaceful protests but frowned at the recourse to the misguided attack on the monarch. He warned the youths to shun violence, adding that government would not condone any further attack on the revered king under any pretext.

Police recruit 106 for community policing in Bayelsa

A total number of 106 Bayelsa indigenes have been recruited and trained at the Police Training School, Nora-Tai in Rivers State by the State Police Command into the pilot scheme of community policing.
The state Commissioner of Police, Mr Mike Okoli, made this known yesterday during the community policing sensitization/Awareness campaign in the state.
Okoli pointed out that the newly recruited community police personnel will work within the area of posting through gathering and sharing of intelligence to divisional heads and Area Commanders.
The Chairman of Bayelsa Traditional Rulers Council, King Alfred Diette Spiff commended the new initiative of the Inspector-General of Police, describing it as a welcome development.
