A total number of 106 Bayelsa indigenes have been recruited and trained at the Police Training School, Nora-Tai in Rivers State by the State Police Command into the pilot scheme of community policing.
The Commissioner of Police in Bayelsa State, Mr Mike Okoli, who made this known on Thursday during the community policing sensitization/awareness campaign in the state, said the decision is meant to take policing back to the people of the state.
Okoli pointed out that the newly recruited community police personnel will work within their domain of posting through gathering and sharing of intelligence to divisional heads and area commanders.
