A key student assessment tool for educators and policymakers

It’s being called a valuable tool to help educators and policymakers assess the strengths and learning needs of students coming into the school system. The Early Developmental Instrument is a questionnaire taken by teachers in Canada, Australia and more than 80 communities in the United States — including Washington County — to measure a child’s ability to meet age appropriate developmental expectations. Last month, members of the Washington County Board of Education heard a report on EDI data collected in a survey taken in the fall of 2019. That survey included 1,207 children from 18 schools in both the Johnson City and Washington County school systems.

Home camera catches couple's fall down steps

NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) People have been slipping and falling all over the area since Sunday. Area hospitals have already seen people with broken bones due to the ice. While some people, of course, don’t have a choice, others didn’t realize just how slick it is outside. Louise Pewitt and her finance headed to the gym on Saturday when their Nest Camera couple fell down their front porch. The couple is a little sore on Monday but otherwise Ok from the fall. “We’re leaving, and before I know it I’m at the bottom of the stairs on the ground next to Jake. That’s how fast it went,” Pewitt said.
