Flagstaff, Arizona - Governor Doug Ducey and the Arizona Department of Health Services (ADHS) announced a partnership with Coconino County, Northern Arizona University (NAU), and Northern Arizona Healthcare to open a state COVID-19 vaccination site in Flagstaff.
Launching Monday, April 19 at NAU’s University Union Fieldhouse, this indoor vaccination site will operate seven days a week from 7 a.m.-5 p.m., with the potential to expand hours to 7 p.m. It will offer around 1,000 appointments per day to start but will be able to administer more than 4,000 doses daily.
“We will continue to expand vaccination opportunities throughout the entire state as vaccine supply increases,” said Governor Ducey. “These safe and effective vaccines are the way back to normal life and protecting everyone, especially our most vulnerable.”

PHOENIX – The state health director said Friday that a “very, very small” increase in COVID-19 numbers is cause for concern but not alarm, and should serve as a reminder that people still need to observe health protocols.
Dr. Cara Christ, director of the Arizona Department of Health Services, said that overall progress against the pandemic is still moving in the right direction, with hospitalizations down sharply and totals vaccinations nearing 4 million doses.

Coconino County Moves To Group 1C And Those 35 And Older For The COVID Vaccine
Coconino County has now moved to Phase 1C for COVID vaccinations, which also includes people 35 and older. 1C includes adults of any age with high-risk medical conditions, which includes developmentally disabled and adults living in congregate settings. Coconino County Health and Human Services Director Kim Musselman says, “Coconino County is pleased with the positive demand for vaccines from our community. We encourage all persons eligible for the COVID-19 vaccine to schedule an appointment as soon as possible.” She adds, “please help us battle the pandemic by encouraging your family and friends to schedule their vaccine appointment.” To sign up for the vaccine go to coconino.az.gov/covid19vaccine. Doses of the new, one-shot Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccine are arriving in Arizona, leaving many Arizonans asking if they should get it or one of the two-shot Pfizer and Moderna vaccines.
The answer, health officials say, is get whichever is available to you when you become eligible, because they all protect against severe outcomes.
Some people are sure to still have preferences based on convenience, health or even religious reasons, because the three available vaccines are slightly different.
But the good news is researchers say all three are effective vaccines that prevent hospitalizations and deaths from COVID-19. Our general message at this point is to take the vaccine that s offered to you as they are all highly effective at preventing serious illness and death, Holly Poynter, an Arizona Department of Health Services spokesperson, wrote in an email. They ve all undergone rigorous trials and been reviewed and approved for emergency use by the federal government.
