ATLANTA - The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said on Thursday that out of the 75 million people in the United States who have been fully vaccinated, the agency has identified a comparatively small group of approximately 5,800 vaccinated individuals who have contracted COVID-19.
The agency said 74 people (1%) who experienced what the CDC is calling breakthrough cases have died. But the CDC said the findings only further prove the effectiveness of vaccines against the novel coronavirus, which has killed more than 565,000 Americans.

Montgomery: The state has temporarily paused giving the single-dose Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccine out of an “abundance of caution” while federal officials investigate reports of rare blood clots, the state health officer announced Tuesday.
