Danbury Fire Department Acting Chief Retires After 36 Years
After more then three decades of serving the Danbury community, Danbury s acting Fire Chief Mark Omasta has called it quits.
According to a press release from the Fire Department, Mark began his 36 year firefighting career in 1984 with Citizens Hose Company 6 in Wilton. After a year, he returned to Danbury and from then on he has worked as a firefighter, an EMT and as an aircraft rescue firefighter.

He was promoted to a Lieutenant in 1999, an EMS training officer in 2007, Assistant Fire Chief in 2014 and took over as acting Fire Chief when Chief Wiedl retired in June of 2020.
