Fat Kid started out at the now-shuttered Hatch Local food hall in Manchester and will replace Sub Central, which has been in business since 2006. It's owner also previously owned Mr. Submarine.
Known for its cheesesteaks and massive hoagies, Fat Kid Sandwiches operated for two years at Hatch Local Food Hall, before the food hall abruptly closed in March.
The closure of the city's first food hall is set for the spring and comes on the heels of EAT Restaurant Partners scrapping its plans for a similar concept in Scott's Addition.

Now some of Richmond s biggest sandwiches are being created at Hatch Kitchen in South Richmond.
Fat Kid Sandwiches launched last year during the pandemic as a to-go concept.
Later this year, Fat Kid will be one of the restaurants opening in the now-under-construction Hatch Local food hall.
Liz Clifford and Jon Martin, the couple behind the concept, said when it came to naming their business the choice was obvious.
