Four Khelo India State Centres of Excellence inaugurated in Northeast India Union Minister Kiren Rijiju inaugurated eight Khelo India State Centres of Excellence in India. The inauguration programme was held virtually.   |  23 Dec 2020 4:46 AM GMT Itanagar: Union Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports, Kiren Rijiju inaugurated eight new Khelo India State Centre of Excellence (KISCE). The Khelo India State Centres of Excellence were inaugurated on December 22 virtually. Out of the eight new centres, four are from Northeast India. They are Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Mizoram and Nagaland. The four other KISCE are Karnataka, Kerala, Odisha and Telangana. While speaking on the occasion, Kiran Rijiju said that the Central government wants to develop the sports culture in India.

Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneshwar launched as Khelo India State Centre of Excellence 39 New Delhi: Union Minister of Sports & Youth Affairs Shri Kiren Rijiju virtually inaugurated 8 Khelo India State Centres of Excellence (KISCEs) across India in the presence of distinguished State Ministers on Tuesday. The 8 States include: Manipur, Arunachal Pradesh, Mizoram, Kerala, Telangana, Nagaland, Karnataka and Odisha. Shri Rijiju and Sh. Tusharkanti Behera, Hon’ble Minister, Sports & Youth Services, jointly unveiled the virtual foundation stone at the Kalinga Stadium, Bhubaneshwar. The KISCE has total area of 66 acres and the KISCE will focus on three disciplines: Hockey, Weightlifting and Athletics. Sh. Vishal Kumar Dev, IAS, Commissioner cum Secretary and Sh. R. Vineel Krishna, IAS, Director, Sports & Additional Secretary to Government were also present from Odisha during the event along with Purnima Hembrum (Athletics – International Player).
