In a statement issued to the media on Saturday, APCC s media department chairperson Bobbeeta Sharma said that the Congress has been holding protests to ensure that the voice of the common people is heard.

GUWAHATI: Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal has made a special appeal to the Prime Minister who is the chairman of NITI Aayog to give special exemption to Assam with regard to requirement of the size of land for establishing any project in the State. The Chief Minister made this appeal while putting forward his views during the sixth Governing Council meet of the NITI Aayog held virtually on Saturday.

GUWAHATI: The Publication Board, Assam, (PBA) in association with Banalata Publisher has opened a new book stall at Pan Bazar in the city to provide valuable books to bibliophiles. Besides the books of the Publication Board, Assam those from the National Book Trust and Sahitya Akademi will be available at the new stall. The board has plans to open such stalls in urban areas and towns in the State.

GUWAHATI: Restrictions imposed on tourists by the Meghalaya Government to visit the State in view of the COVID-19 pandemic has become a boon for the national parks and wildlife sanctuaries in Assam.
More than 2 lakh tourists have so far (till the first week of February, 2021) visited the Kaziranga National Park since it was reopened in October, 2020. The revenue collected during this period has crossed Rs 2 crore. If the present trend continues the park is expected to earn Rs 6 crore to Rs 7 crore by May this year.
