GUWAHATI: The Congress, which has stepped up its campaign in the state for the upcoming assembly election, is targeting to corner the BJP on the price rise issue. Skyrocketing prices have burned deep holes in pockets of consumers and the party could use this issue as a ‘trump card’.
In election-bound Assam, where protests over the Citizenship (Amendment) Act have almost petered out because of the pandemic, Congress on Saturday announced large-scale protests over price rise. Rahul Gandhi, who kicked off the campaign in the state recently from Sivasagar, has stirred up the citizenship debate all over again, but BJP leaders have said CAA protests do not matter in Assam politics now.
