A Delhi court today granted bail to businessman Navneet Kalra in connection with a case relating to the hoarding of oxygen concentrators and selling them at exorbitant prices.
Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Arun Kumar Garg asked Mr Kalra to furnish a personal bond and two surety bonds of Rs 1,00,000 each.
Synopsis
Kalra, through senior advocate Vikas Pahwa, told the court, I had no criminal intent to cheat anyone. The government has benefited from my sales, they got GST. I paid the income tax. The lawyer added, My invoices and oxygen concentrators are with them [the police]. No more recoveries are to be made against me. I cannot be put in pre-trial detention.

Businessman Navneet Kalra, who is an accused in the oxygen concentrator blackmarketing case, on Friday submitted before a court here that he had no criminal intent to cheat people and cannot be kept in pre-trial detention. During a recent raid, 524 oxygen concentrators, which are crucial medical equipment used for COVID-19 patients, were recovered from Khan Chacha, Town Hall, and Nege & Ju restaurants owned by Kalra. The restaurateur is in judicial custody till June 3.
A Delhi court on Tuesday adjourned to May 28 hearing on the bail application filed by businessman Navneet Kalra in connection with the oxygen concentrator black marketing case. During a recent raid, 524 oxygen concentrators were recovered from Khan Chacha, Town Hall, and Nege & Ju restaurants owned by Kalra. The restaurateur is in judicial custody till June 3. Metropolitan Magistrate Swati Sharma deferred the hearing in the matter to May 28 at 12 pm after advocate Vishal Gohri, representing the accused, sought adjournment. The court had adjourned hearing in the bail plea twice before on May 20 and 22. On May 22, the district court dismissed the plea of Delhi Police seeking five more days of custodial interrogation of Kalra.
