Project RE-HAB uses âbee fencesâ to dissuade elephants from entering human habitations.
Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC) has launched a âbee-fencesâ project to mitigate human-animal (elephant) conflict in the country.
The objective of Project RE-HAB (reducing elephant-human attacks using bees) is to thwart elephant attacks in human habitations using honey bees and thus reducing loss of lives â humans as well as animals.
The pilot project was launched yesterday (15 March) at four locations around village Chelur in Kodagu district of Karnataka by KVIC chairman Vinai Kumar Saxena.

India is all set to manufacture its first eco-friendly and non-toxic paint made from cow dung. The paint will be manufactured by the Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC).
And to make it a pan-India initiative, KVIC plans to set up paint factories in villages across the country. The commission aims to establish 500 manufacturing units within the next six months with the help of prospective entrepreneurs in various villages across the country.

GUWAHATI: KVIC (Khadi and Village Industries Commission) Chairman Vinai Kumar Saxena has said that the growth of Khadi industries has made a quantum jump from six per cent in 2014 to 29 per cent now.
Addressing the media at city hotel on Saturday, Saxena said, We re approaching various ministries, schools, universities and other to adop khadi. Some of the institutions have accepted our plea. All paramilitary forces will adopt khadi products in their canteens. We ve IITs and NITs with us to provide technical support. Under the PMEGP (Prime Minister Employment Generation Programme) 2.28 lakh people have been employed. To make traditional industries more productive and competitive and facilitating their sustainable development the Centre is setting up a fund for the generation of traditional industries, he said.

New Delhi [India], January 12 (ANI): Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways and MSME Nitin Gadkari will launch an innovative new paint developed by Khadi and Village Industries Commission on Tuesday at his residence.
According to a press statement from the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, the eco-friendly, non-toxic paint, called Khadi Prakritik Paint is a first-of-its-kind product, with anti-fungal, anti-bacterial properties. Based on cow dung as its main ingredient, the paint is cost-effective and odourless and has been certified by the Bureau of Indian Standards.
ITBP inks MoU with KVIC for supplying Khadi durries for CAPF jawans ANI | Updated: Jan 06, 2021 15:19 IST
New Delhi [India], January 6 (ANI): Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) on Wednesday signed close to Rs 9 crore deal with the Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC) to procure over 1.71 lakh Khadi durries for Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs).
As per an official release, ITBP will procure 1,71,520 cotton khadi durries at a total cost of Rs 8,73,46,000. The MoU was signed between the ITBP and the KVIC at the Gandhi Smriti, Rajghat, the base office of the KVIC between Vinai Kumar Saxena, Chairman, KVIC and Anand Swaroop, IG ITBP, it said.
