Dimapur, Nov. 22 (EMN): A four-day residential training programme on Key Resource Centre (KRC) for second batch began on November 21 at Hotel Moon Star in Dimapur. The training would cover the ethos of Jal Jeevan Mission for good water governance to achieve long-term sustainability. A press release from the University of Science and Technology, Meghalaya (USTM), informed that the KRC is one of the key components under JJM. It added that University of Science and Technology, Meghalaya, has been assigned as the KRC under Jal Jeevan Mission for North East India under Ministry of Jal Shakti, government of India, for thematic areas to cover including knowledge and skill, community participation, women empowerment, leadership building among village council/ VWSC representatives in planning, implementation, operation and maintenance of the water supply infrastructure created. Fort Saint James Mayor Bob Motion is gravely concerned over the number of overdoses in the community.
An alert was issued by the district’s RCMP Detachment this week after emergency crews responded to numerous overdoses.
Crews attended two calls for service in one day at the same house, resulting in one death.
The matter is now under investigation by the BC Coroners Service.
Motion told Vista Radio an issue like this hits pretty close to home for rural communities like theirs.
“You might not know that person directly but you are only one person removed from someone who knew that person. That’s how it hits us a lot harder in a place like this because in a city like Prince George there are more people obviously and less of a direct connection.”
