The Kirksville R-3 School District bond proposal that would increase security at local schools and finance an Education Center for Performing Arts, passed with almost 80 percent yes votes during the Municipal Election held on Tuesday, April 2. In other results, Angela Caraway and Nick Billington were re-elected to the Kirksville R-3 School District Board and Kirksville City Councilman John Gardner was re-elected to a seat on the city council. The Adair County Democratic Club held a candidate’s forum at the Rieger Armory on Thursday, Feb. 15. Two candidates for Kirksville City Council and two candidates for the Kirksville R-3 School Board appeared at the event.

Eight of nine city council candidates speak at the Kirksville Area Chamber of Commerce Candidate s Forum

The Kirksville Area Chamber of Commerce held a candidate’s forum for Kirksville City Council candidates on March 21 at A.T. Still University. There are nine candidates running for two seats open on the city council. Candidates for the council are Kevin A. Alm, Wesley Gerber, Marva Marie, Jennifer Walston, Stephanie Deren, Rick Steele, Danny McDowell, Angie Sullivan and Tom Stinson. Gerber did not attend the forum.
