These two excellent aerial pictures of Dundalk town centre were unearthed at an auction in Dundalk some years ago and presented to the then editor of the Argus, Kevin Mulligan to retain for posterity.
As an exercise in discovering how the town has developed, Argus photographer, Ken Finnegan, who has become very skilled at operating his camera from a drone was shown the pictures and given the task of trying to take new pictures from as near as possible as the original location.
We think he has done an excellent job.
No exact date is available for when the original pictures were taken, or how they are taken, but presumably they were from an helicopter or airplane.
The last Friday of the school term in De La Salle secondary school saw a number of teachers swap the classroom for the fresh air of Gyles Quay, where they jumped in off the pier into the cold waters of the Irish Sea.
