Seemingly random assault in Horseshoe Bay prompts appeal from police

VANCOUVER Police in West Vancouver are asking the public for help identifying a man they suspect of assaulting a stranger in Horseshoe Bay last weekend. The incident happened on Sunday, April 18, around 8 p.m., according to a news release from the West Vancouver Police Department. Police say a 29-year-old woman from Vancouver was walking alone near the intersection of Nelson Avenue and Bay Street when she was approached by an unknown man. Without provocation, the man grabbed her from behind and pushed her to the ground, police say in their release. The woman stood up and ran away, suffering cuts, scrapes and a broken tooth from the assault, according to police.

Apr232021, 11:24 am West Vancouver Police are appealing to the public for tips after a seemingly random assault on a woman in Horseshoe Bay left her with cuts, scrapes, and a broken tooth. According to WVPD, the incident took place around 8 pm last Sunday, when the woman – a 29-year-old Vancouver resident – was walking alone near Nelson Avenue and Bay Street intersection. “She was approached by an unknown man who, without provocation, grabbed her from behind and pushed her to the ground,” said WVPD Const. Kevin Goodmurphy. “The woman was able to stand up and run away to safety. The suspect left in an unknown direction.”
